Paul here at home in Melbourne. I had a look at Google Earth today and was really impressed. So I decided to create an interactive map of Everest that you can fly around and see all the key points on the route I am following up Everest. Having been there, I can tell you that the views are extremely realistic and the level of detail is amazing. For instructions on how to use the map go to this page.
Hopefully this map will be useful when you are trying to follow climbers on Everest and are wondering exactly where they are. With this map, you can just click on the named marker and Google Earth will ‘fly’ you there. The more adventurous might like to try zooming around themselves. See if you can spot the helicopter wreck at base camp.
