Paul is on his way back to camp 4. Hi Nick here with an update.
Communication has been very difficult this morning with Paul, and even for Fi at base camp, however we do know that Attila was with him and also summited.
Forecast conditions were clear, no cloud, but a 30-50kph wind from the west, which with wind chill would have dropped the forecast -18C air temperature to something like an effective -46C.
The forecast is for these conditions to continue, with the wind strengthening over the next few days.
Despite the probably clear view, the cold would have meant that Paul and Attila wouldn’t have been waiting around for long on top and will now be on their way back to camp 4. We’re looking forward to hearing of his safe arrival in a few more hours. Some phone interviews are planned and I’ll post recordings of these to the site.
Thank you for all the messages for Paul and Fi, I’ll bundle these into a single file in another hour or so and send it to him so it’s ready to be downloaded when he reaches camp 4. Fi will also download them at base camp.
